Short answers first. If that doesn’t cover it, send a note — it goes to James, not a ticket queue. Your address is not published on this page.
How does it work?
A venue hangs a poster. You scan the QR and type your own mobile number, a town, and miles. That signs you up for one text a day. The same scan tells that venue you are here. Already on the list? Scan again at the door, change city or miles if you need to, then tap I’m here. The venue sees a count and the last four digits, not your full number.
How do I get the text?
Scan a poster at a venue, or open Subscribe, enter your mobile number, pick Waco, Temple, Belton, or Salado (or use your location), pick 5, 10, 25, or 50 miles, and submit. That click is the opt-in. We never pull a number off the QR code.
When does the text come?
Once a day, and only if there is a show in your miles. 4pm Central, or 11am if something starts before 4. The text is a count and a link. The list of shows/events is on the site. No text on a quiet night.
What are the Venues and Bands pages?
Venues shows who is playing at that room for the next 7 days. Bands shows where that act is playing for the next 30 days. You do not need a phone number to look. The daily text is separate, and it covers every show inside the miles you picked.
What does scan again at the door mean?
The first scan from a poster signs you up and checks you in. Later, scan the same poster when you walk in and tap I’m already on the list — I’m here. That is how the venue knows you came. They do not get your full number.
How do I change town or miles?
Open Subscribe again with the same number, or text WACO, TEMPLE, BELTON, or SALADO, and 5, 10, 25, or 50. You stay on the list. The link in the text opens the shows in that area.
How do I get off the list?
Reply STOP to any text, or use the Unsubscribe page. That stops texts. Your number stays on file so START can put you back. To wipe the number entirely, use the form on this page. Venues and bands delete the Studio account under Membership. Shows already posted stay unless they cancel those first.
I'm a venue or a band. How do I post a show?
Sign in to Studio with the email you used to create the account. Do not make a second account. Venues are $30 a month, or $60 a year as a MACT venue member. Musicians post free with a MACT membership: full band $60 a year, individual $30, students $20. A musician in a band can list shows on an individual membership. Without MACT, bands are $12 a month. PayPal handles cards. We never see them. Save the venue before the poster and the calendar boxes will show. Bands save the project name, then the calendar boxes show on Connect Your Calendar. You can type a show, or use Speak the show and say the whole night in one sentence, then click Stop.
I can’t sign in. What about forgot password?
On the sign-in page, use Forgot password and the same email as the account. We email a link. It expires in one hour. Check junk. Open it while you are still at the computer, then pick a new password of at least 8 characters. Fans do not have passwords.
How does a venue or a band connect a calendar?
Venues and bands, after the venue or the band name is saved. Google, Outlook, or Apple Calendar. One feed at a time. The title has to include the words live music. Capital letters do not matter, and the words can sit anywhere, as in Live Music Madstone at Obrien's in Temple. Anything else stays off, including shift notes. Set a start time. An end time is used when you set one. All-day events are skipped. Repeating events with a start time come over, such as every Saturday or the 3rd Monday. Put the place in Location. In the description, write up to 100 characters. That short note shows on the website with the show. You can also add Genre: Rock, Cover: $10, and a link. For a band, the show is listed under the saved band name. The place comes from Location, or from at in the title. If we cannot tell the place, that night is skipped. A radio station that lists many different bands should use a venue account, so each title stays the act name. For Google: on the left under My calendars, hover that calendar and click the three dots beside its name, not the gear at the top. Click Settings and sharing. Scroll to Integrate calendar and copy Secret address in iCal format, not the public address. For Outlook on the web: Settings, Calendar, Shared calendars, Publish a calendar, Can view all details, then copy the ICS link, not the HTML link. For Apple: turn on Public Calendar and copy that link. It starts with webcal://. A link shared only with certain people is not enough. If you only have an iPhone, open Calendar, tap Calendars, tap the circled i beside the iCloud calendar, turn on Public Calendar, and copy Share Link. Sharing one event is not enough. If Public Calendar is missing, the calendar is only on the phone. Turn on iCloud Calendars in Settings and use a calendar under iCloud. We never ask for an Apple or Outlook password. A work Outlook account may block publishing. In Studio, open Venue & poster or Connect Your Calendar and paste the link. We read the next 60 days right away, then again before the 11am and 4pm texts. The link is encrypted and is never shown on the site. Anyone with an Apple or Outlook public link can read that calendar, so do not post the link. Take live music out of the title, or take the show off the calendar, and it comes off the list of shows/events before the next text.
Can a show be highlighted?
Yes. In Studio, open List of Shows/Events. $10 puts the show under Highlights for Tonight, in big gold type, and the name goes in that night's text. Only two of those each night. If that night is full, you can still pay $5. $5 makes the name bigger, bold, and gold in the list, on the venue page, and on the band page. Checkout with PayPal.
Do you sell my number?
No. The privacy page is the whole policy. A venue sees a door count and the last four digits, not your full number. Monday’s email to that venue is signup and visitor counts only. No phone numbers.
Legal detail is on the privacy page. Venues and bands start at pricing.
